I Have a Confession...

Here goes... I like country music. I don't know what it is about it, but I dig it. I'm a closet listener though. When I'm driving in my car solo, I oftentimes switch over to the radio and check the two presets (hidden over on FM2, of course), and if they are playing a particularly sweet (ie: sappy) tune, I'm instantly sucked in. Well, just the other day, this exact scenario happened, only their playlist included several particularly sweet (ie: sappy) songs together, back to back. And I'll tell you what, I was just a blubbering. Seriously, crying to the point it was hard to see the road.  I came home and looked up the lyrics, and teared up some more as I took in the sweetness. Each message was saying to me to cherish each day. Every moment. It will soon be a memory. If you can stomach some music of the country variety, here's a video of one of the songs that had me going (and the singer is darn cute to boot).

Stealing Cinderella, Chuck Wicks:
{video from myplay.com}

And here are the lyrics from another song, You're Gonna Miss This by Trace Adkins:

She was staring out the window of that SUV
Complaning, saying "I can't wait to turn 18"
She said "I'll make my own money, and I'll make my own rules"
Mamma put the car in park out there in front of the school
Then she kissed her head and said "I was just like you"

You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

Before she knows it she's a brand new bride
In a one-bedroom apartment, and her daddy stops by
He tells her "It's a nice place"
She says "It'll do for now"
Starts talking about babies and buying a house
Daddy shakes his head and says "Baby, just slow down"

Cause you're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

Five years later there's a plumber workin' on the water heater
Dog's barkin', phone's ringin'
One kid's cryin', one kid's screamin'
She keeps apologizin'
He says "They don't bother me.
I've got 2 babies of my own.
One's 36, one's 23.
Huh, it's hard to believe, but ...

You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this"

And if you're really looking for some emotional cleansing, look up the lyrics for Don't Blink by Kenny Chesney and Sarah Beth by Rascal Flatts. Oh My.

So There. I've said it: I listen to country music (on occasion).
Now go on and have yourself a good Thursday, y'all!

I like it too. Sometimes I just get in the mood for it. Every song is a story and sucks you right in.

Me too! I actually like all kind of music, could be because I can't carry a tune.

Have a golden weekend! xoxo
