I spent a heavenly 2.5 hours by myself at the coffee shop on Sunday afternoon. I carved the time out to plan my days. Right when I sat down (Did I mention I was by myself?) I kind of just meditated on what my focus should be... This is what I scrawled:
I want to be better. More present, More inspiring. Focussed. More involved in my life. This in turn should actually help to make my life easier and less complicated because the answer is to do less and be more.I'm allowing stuff to get in the way of being ever-present. It's taking my time and zapping me of my patience, and I'm letting it happen. I'm a mom and a wife, a reader and a bargain-hunter, a small (okay, very small) business owner, friend, sister and daughter. These roles are all important and make me me, and I've been allowing them get a bit squeezed out. I need to edit (as the oh-so-cool Tim Gunn would say).
So as a result of my little planning session, I'll be trimming off the excess, simplifying, and trying to stay true to who I really am. So...
What's important in your life?
Are you allowing stuff to get in the way of being ever-present?
Do you need to edit?

As Tim would say... Make it work!
Yes, editing is all too difficult... thus, why I haven't even had a chance to speak to you since I got back from Denver! I think as you become a mom, the editing becomes even a little more difficult since your priorities shift so much. I struggle with this daily!
I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I never have enough time and it is taking a toll. Balance is what I am searching for!
Great post. I do need to edit. I was just telling Marianne (Haven & Home) when I saw her this week that I have plenty of time- I've just been bad at managing it lately!
I need to edit also. I think I need to edit the tv. I bet I would have a lot of free time without it.
Absolutely! So much to do, not enough time. And struggles to make sure we're spending that precious time on the things that are most important to us. It's a constant battle. I was actually just lamenting a bit myself...

...but it's good to know that it's a universal struggle.
'do less be more' that sounds like a great mantra! Awesome post
Hmmmm...this is a good thing for me to think about. Thanks!
Um...yes. I would say definitely. I never thought of it like that. I'm just now discovering that sitting down and actually planning out my days may be a way to help get more done and "be" at better person. I spend WAY to much time on the computer...for instance ;)
First and foremost I must focus on my family. They're number one!
I love this! Have you ever read 'I was a Really Good Mom Before i Had Kids'? It's hilarious and totally centers around this concept!
