Why, oh Why?

My little recent spring-break-blogging-hiatus has me doing some introspection... Why do I blog? I mean the break really was nice... And it's not a job requirement... So what has me doing this for over a year now? Bear with me while I ramble on trying to find my answer...

I know why I started this blog: Simply as an extension of my little card business. I didn't even think to start a blog, except when I was working in my website template there was a little place to link to your blog in it. So after looking up the definition of blog (Really I did. It's web+log, in case you were in the dark like me!), I posted up about some card business related stuff. Then on a whim I posted my first personal entry. It felt weird. Very out there for me. Then I remembered about my personal resolution to step outside my comfort zone a bit more. I then posted more random tidbits like this and this. And then this strange thing started happening: People (albeit just a few) started reading and commenting. I posted more, without having a plan or method or really a goal in mind.

I like what I feel when I look back over this space that's been created. It's a place where I share things that inspire me, that I love, or that I happen to be struggling with at the time. In turn, it's become a place that inspires me, turns me to the positive more, and holds me accountable. I suppose this is why I blog.

In the beginning I found myself teetering between loving this experience and wanting to retreat back into my own safe private haven. I admit, I occasionally still have those feelings. It's that darn comfort zone beckoning me back, but I'm out (mostly) and really like it. Thanks for helping to create this here blog, and for encouraging me along the way.

So... did I answer my own little question, or did I just ramble on in my own introspection? Let me ask you: Why do you read this blog, or blogs in general? If you have a blog, why do you do it? Thanks for sharing!

I read blogs mainly to get tips or help with things I'm either doing or want to do. I go for the recipes and organization tips and I've met a few friends along the way. I love your blog because of your recipes and because of the tips you give from time to time. It's a fun and cheery place to visit.

great question! I ask this to my very self so often. I read yours because because you inspire me. Even when times were tough you persevered. I like that. I started blogging as a creative outlet that I could do while still being a stay at home mom. still cant quite grasp why people would read my blog though!

And I agree with Kelli....your blog is a fun and cheery place, which is why it's made my list of faves!

First of all, I blog and read other blogs as a way to stay in touch with my friends and family. When it comes to following blogs of people I do not know, I go there for inspiration and to find craft or home project ideas and help. Your blog has been a source of encouragement and hope!

I love your blog. You, in particular, have such a positive way about you and it's really inspiring to me. I feel like I can be a better mother after I read what you have to say. As for my blog...I've actually been thinking about quitting. I'm just not sure anymore why I do it, or if I'm actually getting anything from it. It's hard, you know.

I agree with what everyone said about you. You are so positive and have a great style and attitude. And I love you!
I read other people's blogs because I like to see what they are doing and about their homes and lives. Kind of a voyeur...but in a good way!

Ohh, I couldn't agree more with the above commentors - I especially love to see people's creativity, their homes, their recipes, and of course all the gorgeous photos out there... hence why I love your site - the meal plans are so fun to see - mainly cause it gives me ideas! For my site, I just wanted a place to organize all the things I found and love, and to my surprise - people read it, totally unexpected!

I read blogs for connection - I love seeing the parallels & differences between us. I also love to be inspired, to get ideas, to open my mind a bit to new possibilities.

I read blogs to inspire me and uplift me. Your blog has always had a great positive vibe and I always leave feeling good on the inside.

Why do I blog? I'm not really sure. I guess just to express myself. To brag about my beautiful baby boy, and to keep myself accountable when it comes to my weight loss. Sometimes I just to just to get it out, or to reflect.

I blog because i love to write..and write about life.
I love yours because i just know we would be friends if i lived next door.
Not that i'm the snooping kind of friend...
or that i would be over for dinner with my three kids all the time.
nope...
just a good neighborly friend.

I read blogs to feel bad about myself and all the crap I can't seem to get done...just kidding, but it dawns on me sometimes that I must not live in the same 24 day that other ppl do cause I don't get nearly as much done as everyone else seems to. I love the human experience in all forms...so reading blogs is especially interesting to me. I write to keep from going stark raving mad. commit.me.to.the.physch ward. mad. I write to sort out life with 3 teenage girls and one end of the line son who lives in a house that goes through more tampons then a small country. Its strange sometimes...when you think about it...but I like it... and glad you do it... your blog and (all the things you get done) are inspiring!

I go back and forth between loving writing a blog and feeling like it is another job, but it has been great for my company. I love your blog because it is positive!

I read blogs because I like to read interesting writing and view thoughtful imagery. I write my blog because I love writing and photography and it acts as a workshop for me. My biggest struggle is time. It is easy to spend too much time in the blogosphere. I'm always working on life balance. Thanks for your post.
