Summer Reading List

Let summer reading begin...

by Barbara Kingsolver
This one has been on the t0-read list for a while now and is borrowed and ready to be read.

by Kathryn Stockett
I've just started this one and it's so far living up to all that I've heard.

by Marisa De Los Santos
I picked this one up at Costco without any recommendations and am going to give it a go.

by Jillian Michaels
Recommended by a friend, I'm hoping to use some of the set workouts to help with the bathing suit bod.

by Rebecca Barlow Jordan
This was a Mother's Day gift from a sweet friend and I'm already finding daily inspiration from it's short daily stories/prayers/focus.

by Keri Smith
I'm so excited to locate this book and unleash some creativity in this family.

by Ian James Corlett
I think summer will be the perfect time to read this with my kids and start some good conversations while they're all mine!

by Keri Smith
If it's in the American Girl library, it's got to b good (at least by my daughter's standards)!

by Betty MacDonald
I loved these books as a kid and am looking forward to reading them aloud as a family. We've got the treasury on loan as we speak.

by Bill Zimmerman
I picked this up for my daughter as a little quiet time activity (Hoping to get a few mommy-minutes during naptime/quiet time).

Oh, and they'll be lots of magazine reading... I'm over-subscribed right now, thanks to the Amazon $5 deals and some gift subscriptions, and loving every page of it!

What books are on your summer reading list?

I am hoping to get some things read this summer to, Erin. I read "The Poisonwood Bible" many years ago and remember it being really good.

I think, now I could be wrong, that "Belong to Me" is the sequel to "Love Walked In" by the same author. I read "Love Walked In" and liked it and I have "Belong to Me" and just haven't read it yet. I don't know if it's one of those were you HAVE to have read the first book or not. I hope you're having a great weekend.

Yes, Jemm is right... Belong to Me is a sequel to Love Walked In. Which I didn't know until I finished Belong to Me - ha! But I think it was a great stand-alone book and am dying to read Love Walked In now with some of the same characters! I am a huge fan of Poisonwood Bible & The Help. Sounds like a great summer of reading!

I read The Poisonwood Bible many years ago when I was teenager working at the local zoo. I can't tell you how much I cried or how much I loved that book. Definitely a great read.

belong to me was good , not great in my humble opinion.
i've seriously read about 6 or 7 books in teh last couple of months that were only fair.
i love mary alice monroe and i love patty henry callahan....
i'm also planning on tackling 'beach music' and its 700 page self and my all time fave 'redeeming love'...again

Hurrah for fabulous summer reads! I especially enjoy sitting outdoors in a deck chair, with a cold drink in one hand and a good book in the other... Enjoy!

PS: Right now I'm reading Water for Elephants. Can't hardly put it down!

Belong to Me and Poisonwood Bible both made me cry. A lot! But I thought they were really good. I would like to read Love Walks In sometime but it wasn't necessary to the book. Might help with getting to know the characters a little more. I need to get a list. My only for sure book is the Art of Racing in the Rain.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am an avid reader so it's always nice to see what others are reading. I am currently reading the Help, good pick.

Great list! I LOVED The Help... so good! Before you read Belong to Me... have you read the first book, Love Walked In? I'd read that one first (I think it's actually the better book) but Belong to Me is the sequel...

I LOVE summer reading! Happy last day of school!
